Ridgeline House, California by Montalba Architects

Ridgeline House has redesigned by Montalba Architects from California is a home design in Pasadena, California, United States that made with redwood cladding and contrasting gull-wing roofline. Situated on high land, above Pasadena, Ridgeline House has an beautiful view of the city that are below and the Rose Bowl. The original home design’s post and beam construction that constructed in 1967 by Mortimer J. Matthews maintained for floor to ceiling glass windows and doors which can be offering flexibility and visual connection to the surrounding landscape.

The main interest in renovating this California home design was to preserve the original glass and redwood building materials while taking advantage of the structural logic to improve spatial organization, enhance natural light, and increase the relationship between building and landscape. Removal of interior partitions united black and open space in the rooms where the walls open window of the floor to ceiling and sliding glass doors disappear into the restored redwood siding, blurring the distinction between landscape and room, and bind the old design and new design together.
